Our PC Government’s housing plan has taken another important step forward as 20 new townhouse units built for healthcare workers are now complete and fully occupied.
Announced by Premier Tim Houston on July 28th, this project helps address one of the key challenges facing healthcare recruitment and retention in rural Nova Scotia: finding safe, accessible housing in the communities they serve. The new development includes one, two and three-bedroom units and represents a $6 million investment in Bridgewater’s future.
“Healthcare workers are there for Nova Scotians when we need them most, and they deserve to have safe, accessible housing in the communities they serve,” said Premier Houston. “These new homes in Bridgewater are helping us recruit and retain the health professionals families and patients depend on, while supporting the continued growth of this thriving community.”
This project is part of the Province’s $45 million housing for healthcare program, which focuses on ensuring healthcare workers have access to housing in communities across rural Nova Scotia. It also builds on the broader work underway through our PC government’s Action for Housing Plan, which has supported the creation of more than 68,000 new housing units since 2023.
With projects underway or completed in communities including Guysborough, Lunenburg, Port Hawkesbury, Canso, Liverpool and New Glasgow, Nova Scotians are seeing significant progress. Investments like this are helping grow communities, support families and strengthen the healthcare system people count on every day.
