More Nova Scotians are finding safe, affordable places to call home thanks to a new housing development in Digby supported by our PC government.
The first residents have moved into the initial phase of the Mount Street housing development, which will include a total of 21 new homes—12 of which will be affordable units—once construction is complete.
“Nova Scotians deserve to have safe and affordable places to call home. Through our five-year housing plan, our government is helping more people than ever before find affordable housing,” said Colton LeBlanc, Minister of Growth and Development. “Investments like the ones we have made in Digby improve housing access and affordability for people in the area and help the local economy grow and community thrive.”
With funding from our PC government, construction on one building has been completed, which is now fully occupied. A second building is expected to be finished within a month, with construction on a third set to begin later this summer. Each building will contain seven units.
The total cost of the project is $2.8 million. Our PC government is contributing a $1.14-million forgivable loan through the Affordable Housing Development Program.
The development is part of the government’s broader five-year housing plan to build more housing, faster across Nova Scotia and support our thriving communities.
