Building Rural NS: Better Transit for the Annapolis Valley

Bus service in the Annapolis Valley is getting a boost with new support for Tidal Transit from our PC government.

Tidal Transit, which serves Kings, Annapolis and Digby counties, is strengthening local transit service with new buses, electric vehicle chargers and upgrades to its maintenance facility. The support was announced in New Minas on August 13, 2026.

Reliable community transit helps connect people to work, school, medical appointments and the people who matter most. These practical investments help strengthen rural communities and improve access to essential services across the region.

“Not everyone in Kings County owns a car, and not everyone can drive. Community transit gets so many people where they need to go: school, work, medical appointments or just out to see friends and family,” said John Lohr, PC Minister of Finance and Treasury Board and MLA for Kings North, on behalf of PC Public Works Minister Fred Tilley. “Our PC government is so pleased to be able to support Tidal Transit as an important link between communities.”

Our government is providing $2 million through the Public Transit Assistance Program. The funding will support the purchase of new buses and electric vehicle chargers, along with modernization of the maintenance facility, including an emergency power backup system.

For families feeling the pressure of rising costs, dependable public transit can help ease pressure on household budgets. This investment will give more people in the Annapolis Valley a reliable option to get around close to home while supporting a stronger, more sustainable transit service.
