Born and raised in HRM and a graduate of Dalhousie University, Tim Outhit lived and worked all over Canada before returning to Nova Scotia in 2000 to raise his family in Bedford with his wife Sandra, a professor and program head at Dalhousie. Together, Tim and Sandra have two daughters, Elizabeth (Liz) and Emily, both Dalhousie grads with Liz working her way through Dalhousie Medical School.
Tim was first elected in 2008 to work in the HRM Regional Council. During his almost 17 years as a Municipal Councillor, Tim advocated for and supported new growth, new developments, new protections for heritage and the environment, and new ideas and policies. In all things he has sought responsibility and balance.
Tim’s passionate love for the Bedford community has been evident since his career in the public service began. As Councillor he worked tirelessly to unite Bedford with community spaces and transportation, something he has carried into the Assembly since his 2024 election, becoming Ministerial Assistant focusing on the Joint Regional Transportation Authority to the Minister of Public Works.
As Vice Chair of the Law Amendments and Public Bills Committees and a sitting member of the Public Accounts Committee, Tim Outhit puts forward all he can to help all Nova Scotians in matters of the public interest.
