HALIFAX, N.S. – PC MLAs have summoned Nova Scotia Power to appear before the Natural Resources and Economic Development Committee to answer for concerns of inaccurate billing and an overall loss in trust from the public.
The committee meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 25th at 1:00 p.m.
“Nova Scotia Power has failed to protect the information of Nova Scotians, and now the public has lost trust in the accuracy of their bills,” said Kyle MacQuarrie MLA for Inverness and committee member of the Natural Resources and Economic Development Committee. “Nova Scotians deserve answers, and our PC team looks forward to asking questions on behalf of our constituents.”
PC MLA Kyle MacQuarrie requested the meeting after several constituents reached out to him with largely inflated power bills.
Nova Scotia Power recently experienced one of the largest data breaches in our province’s history. The company is facing delays in payments to contractors and suppliers and now Nova Scotians are now reaching out with concern for inaccurate smart meter readings causing inflated bills.
