Does Lisa Lachance Support Bike Lanes on Morris St?

Nova Scotians are worried about HRM Council making traffic worse by turning Morris Street into a one-way street to add in two-way bike lanes.

NDP Leader Claudia Chender has been all too eager to back this plan to limit vehicle activity, without concern for the impact on rapid access to the port and to hospitals.

But Lisa Lachance, the NDP MLA who actually represents Morris Street, has been surprisingly quiet.

Is Lisa hearing from people in downtown Halifax who drive Morris Street every day that this decision will make their daily commutes longer?

With Nova Scotia’s busiest port in Lisa’s constituency, perhaps Lisa understands how important it is to our economy.

Or, perhaps Lisa read the letter sent to HRM Council by Emergency Medical Care who shared that most of the 22,000 calls first responders received in the area since January have utilized Morris Street.

The question is: will Lisa Lachance stand with the people or with the rest of the NDP on making traffic worse in favour of bike lanes?
