Close to 100 households in the Halifax Regional Municipality will soon have a place to call home, thanks to the dedicated efforts of Rooted: Community Development Partners and our PC government.
In Cole Harbour, Rooted is nearing completion on a new 18-unit complex on Circassion Drive, known as The Crosswoods. Of those units, nine will be offered at affordable rental rates, with monthly rents ranging from $770 for a one-bedroom to $1,136 for a three-bedroom unit. Applications for tenants are now open.
Meanwhile in Dartmouth, Rooted is preserving 84 affordable units through the purchase of two apartment buildings on Gaston Road. Rents there are set at $770 per month for a one-bedroom and up to $1,150 for a three-bedroom unit.
Our PC government invested $1.4 million through the Affordable Housing Development Program to support the new builds in Cole Harbour, and $3.1 million from National Housing Strategy funds administered by our government. For the Gaston Road project, our PC government provided more than $11.1 million, including an $8.9-million low-interest repayable loan and $2.2 million in grants.
Income thresholds ensure that the homes remain accessible to those who need them most:
✔️ One-bedroom: household income up to $47,000
✔️ Two-bedroom: up to $60,000
✔️ Three-bedroom: up to $67,500

“Our government is focused on getting more people in housing, faster – and it’s working,” said Growth and Development Minister Colton LeBlanc. “Investments like these are both preserving and increasing affordable housing supply, and that makes life better for Nova Scotians.”
Since 2023, our PC government has invested over $120 million in more than 1,400 affordable units across Nova Scotia—part of the largest public housing investment in decades. We’re delivering real results and helping more people find a safe, affordable place to live.
